Planning your wedding day timeline with your photographer
2 April 2026

A wedding day moves fast. Between the getting ready, the ceremony and the dinner, the hours disappear. A thoughtful timeline is the simplest way to make sure the day feels calm and every important moment is captured.
Start with the light
Light shapes everything in photography. If you can, plan your couple portraits for the hour before sunset, when the light is soft and warm. Even twenty minutes at that time of day will give you some of your favourite images.
Leave room to breathe
Build small buffers between each part of the day. Hair takes longer than planned, cars arrive late, guests want one more hug. Ten extra minutes here and there keeps the whole day relaxed, and relaxed people make beautiful photos.
You will remember how the day felt. The timeline is there to protect that feeling.
Make a short list of must-have photos
Think about the family groups and the small details that matter most to you: your grandmother’s ring, the flowers, a letter. Share this list before the day so nothing important is forgotten.
Then let it happen
Once the plan is set, let go of it. The in-between moments, the laughter during the speeches, the quiet look across the room, are often the ones you will treasure most 🤍
